2001 Shadow VLX
2001 Shadow VLX Deluxe
Honda
Shadow VLX 600
How many other entry-level cruisers look this
authentic? More importantly, why settle for something that looks like
it was built to a budget?
Like the Shadow A.C.E. 750, the VLX is powered by a
liquid cooled 52-degree V-twin for a
traditional cruiser feel. Though it displaces only 583cc, the
three-valves per cylinder V-twin delivers big power. And emulating
some larger, and much more expensive, customs, the VLX's 'hard-tail'
monoshock rear suspension gives the look of a rigid-framed classic
with the ride and handling of a modern cruiser. The Honda Shadow VLX.
Count on Honda to make a small package perform Big.
A lot of guys build customs that only lean in one
direction: back. But the Shadow VLX and VLX Deluxe are
designed to turn. A shorter wheelbase and less weight translate to
great handling, while the VLX's unique rear suspension gives you the
look of a rigid frame. And if you want to make an even bigger
statement, the VLX Deluxe features more chrome, a deluxe upholstered
saddle, and your choice of two-tone paint.
The Shadow VLX Deluxe is one of the best-kept
secrets in the custom world. With a 52-degree V-twin engine using
three-valve heads and liquid cooling, it's a pocket rocket compared to
some larger custom bikes.
The best value in customs boasts an incredibly low,
25.6-inch seat height and a spirited look.
The 2000 Shadow VLX and Shadow VLX Deluxe are a pair
of aces.
- 583cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine produces
impressive power over a broad RPM range

V-Twin Engine
Honda's
narrow-angle V-twin engines, found on the Shadow® VLX Deluxe, as well
as the Shadow Spirit™ 1100, Shadow American Classic Edition,®
Pacific Coast,® Shadow American Classic Edition Tourer™ and Shadow
American Classic Edition 750, feature two intake valves and a single,
larger exhaust valve to achieve 20-percent-greater valve area than a
similarly sized 2-valve engine. Liquid cooling adds durability and
performance, while automatic cam-chain adjusters and solid-state
electronic ignitions greatly reduce maintenance.
Additional Features
The
2000 Shadow® VLX and VLX Deluxe offer a host of exciting features. A
coolant-heated 34mm carburetor delivers impressive power and torque,
and ignition timing enhances low-speed response. The seat height is a
low 25.6 inches (the lowest seat height in Honda's on-road lineup).
The seat shape, steering head position and handlebar bend all
contribute to a comfortable, upright riding posture. The suspension at
both ends sits lower, yet retains plushness and rideability. The
forward-mounted footpegs and chrome pullback handlebar are
rubber-mounted for reduced vibration, and there's a chrome-plated
halogen headlight. The swingarm has been specially designed for a
custom, hardtail look, and a rear chopper-style fender finishes off
the custom look.
